How the foreign-entity route works
Whatever the corporate form — a UK Ltd, a German GmbH, a French SARL, a Dutch BV or a US LLC — the company is allocated an N98 NIF, the type reserved for businesses with no permanent establishment in Spain.
We file the application under a power of attorney. No member of your team needs to fly to Spain, and at no point are notarised, legalised or translated documents required.
Typical reasons your company needs it
- Selling products or services to the Spanish market
- Owning or purchasing property as a corporate buyer
- Registering for VAT (IVA) or using the OSS scheme
- Discharging EPR and packaging obligations
- Opening a Spanish business bank account
What we ask of you
In most cases your company's incorporation details together with a signed power of attorney are enough for us to obtain the NIF and return it to your finance team.
In Spain
The Spain office sets the pace for the nif for foreign companies across Spain. Our team books your appointment, checks your paperwork, and walks you through the day itself.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. The entire procedure is remote — a representative submits the application for your company under a power of attorney.
The N98 covers most trading activity, but it cannot, for instance, hold shares in an S.L. Describe your plans and we will confirm the correct structure.
